What is Theater Extras?

Theater Extras is a seat-filling and audience development organization. We arrange complimentary and discounted tickets for our members when performances or events are in previews, under-publicized, or want the benefit of a full audience, such as when critics or celebrities are expected be in attendance. Ticket opportunities range from previews and opening nights to performances throughout a show's run. This service is also known as Papering or Dressing the House.

Theater Extras has created a "Paper the House" or "Dress the House" system that is offered free of charge to theater producers, company managers, venue owners, stadiums, and other presenting organizations. Our service benefits both the performing arts community and our members.

How Theater Extras Benefits the Performing Arts

Theater Extras supports the performing arts community in four key ways:

1. We screen for responsible and dependable members who can be relied upon to fill empty seats when producers or venue managers need additional audience members.
2. We distribute complimentary tickets to help producers and venue managers develop future audiences.
3. We encourage members to write reviews of the productions they attend, which are posted on the Theater Extras website.
4. We encourage members to spread positive word of mouth about the events they attend through social media, without mentioning that tickets were obtained through Theater Extras.
